Idol starring Jenny was invited to the “out of competition” section at the Cannes Film Festival.

After her glamorous appearance at the Met Gala, BLACKPINK’s Jennie is reportedly set to make her debut at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. She will attend the festival for the premiere of the HBO series, The Idol, which was invited to the out-of-competition section of the festival in mid-April. It will be a momentous moment for Jenny, who will join other honored guests and celebrities from the film industry at one of the most prestigious events in the world. The Cannes Film Festival will take place from May 16 to 27.

Directed by Sam Levinson, the story of Idol centers on the life of musician Jocelyn, who embarks on a steamy journey from reclaiming her status as the ‘Sexiest Pop Star’ to dominating her reign in the entertainment world. After hitting rock bottom, she meets Tedros, a sex-obsessed cult leader and the only powerful person who can give Jocelyn’s career the boost she needs. Jocelyn’s obsession with her romantic entanglement with Tedros sparks a new awakening in her musical style that elevates her to fame professionally but also plunges her into despair psychologically. After premiering at the Cannes Film Festival, The Idol will begin streaming on June 4.

Earlier, according to Vogue, Jenny joined a host of Met Gala attendees in a gorgeous white mini dress that paid homage to designer Karl Lagerfeld’s 1990 fall ready-to-wear collection. The satin ensemble that hugged her curves was embellished with a white camellia. The placement of a black ribbon tied ribbon tie also stole the limelight. The monotony of the white accent was broken with a black choker neckpiece, matching gloves and stockings. Pinning a white flower in her hair, Jenny kept it simple with minimal accessories and blushed cheeks. Take a look at her Met Gala outfit here:

While it is not known whether Jenny will attend the 76th Cannes Film Festival, just the confirmation of her invitation has made her fans happy. Besides him, other Korean actors are set to make an appearance in the French Riviera, including actor Song Jong Ki for his film Hopeless and Song Kang Ho for Cobweb. Both the Korean films are said to be screened in the ‘out of competition’ category.

The much-awaited annual Cannes Film Festival begins on May 16 and ends on May 27.
