Will big faces join Punjab Lok Congress? Here’s what Amarinder Singh said

New Delhi: Former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has claimed that “many big faces of Punjab politics” will join his newly formed party, the Punjab Lok Congress.

Amarinder Singh said, “Wait for the time. Everything is going well. People are very excited and our membership drive is going well. Many big faces of Punjab politics will be with us.”

Amarinder Singh has been claiming that he is in touch with several Congress MLAs. However, none of the 77 Congress MLAs have made any open statement in support of Amarinder Singh. Last week, Sanjeev Sharma Bittu, a close aide of Amarinder Singh and Mayor of Patiala, lost his mayor seat.

Amarinder Singh said that his party would form the next government in Punjab along with the BJP and a separate Akali faction. “God’s will, with our seat adjustments with us and the BJP and with Shri (Sukhdev Singh) Dhindsa Party (SAD Samyukta), we will form the government,” he said.

Capt Amarinder Singh is trying to build a consensus with the BJP on the seat-sharing issue. Amarinder Singh has claimed that he will soon go to Delhi to meet senior BJP leaders.

Amarinder Singh had quit the Congress after resigning as the Chief Minister of Punjab following a power struggle with state Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu.

On agricultural laws, Singh said, “Everything is over now. Three bills (laws) have been repealed by Parliament.” The former CM said that the Center has agreed on the other six to seven issues raised by the farmers.
