Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee On Monday, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) will accept the nationwide caste-based census if all political parties reach a consensus on the matter.
TMC President’s remarks hours after 10-party delegation headed by Chief Minister visited Bihar Nitish Kumar Met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi to push for caste based census.
“We haven’t discussed it yet. But if there is a consensus between the states and the central government, then we don’t mind. If all the political parties and the states agree, then I will not fight. Political parties Chief Ministers and Let the central government reach a consensus.”
Banerjee declined to comment further. “Nitish ji has put forth his questions on this issue. Let’s see how others react to it.”
Meanwhile, the TMC president said his party’s representatives would attend the all-party meeting called by the Center on August 26 to discuss the Afghanistan crisis.
The MEA briefing is expected to focus on India’s evacuation mission and the government’s assessment of the situation in Afghanistan.
