American artistic swimmer Anita Alvarez faints at the end of her routine World Aquatics Championships in Budapest. lvarez had to be rescued from the bottom of the pool after completing his singles final final appearance. Four-time Olympic medalist Andrea Fuentes, who is also Alvarez’s coach, came down to save Alvarez.

“I noticed that his legs were a little whiter than usual so I thought his blood was not running normally. Normally when you finish doing what you want to do you take a breath but instead of going up, she was going down,” Fuentes told the BBC.
The USA swim team later said Alvarez was fine and resting. The team issued a statement from Fuentes saying that Alvarez had fainted as a result of exertion during her routine.
A team spokesman said Alvarez had fainted in her doubles competition during the first Olympic qualification tournament and had sporadic problems with fainting. Although Alvarez had never fainted during a competition before.
