Mission Raniganj was released on October 6.

Mission Raniganj is inspired by a real-life incident and also features Parineeti Chopra in the lead role.

Akshay Kumar has made a unique choice by opting for a less traditional approach to promoting his latest film, Mission Raniganj. Despite the film’s success, grossing an impressive Rs 12.15 crore within its first three days of release, the actor decided to forgo the usual extensive promotional activities. In a candid conversation with the media, Akshay shared, “I promoted Selfie a lot, but it didn’t work. Promotion is the wrong aspect. I didn’t go anywhere to promote OMG 2. It got word-of-mouth promotion. If I promote the film, people will take it for granted, thinking it’s my job to promote my film. But if somebody else appreciates it and tells them to watch it, they will go and watch the film.”

He further added, “The films that have a lot of songs and fight scenes are different kinds of films. Those films work in a different way. This is what I have learned and I am working accordingly.”

Apart from Akshay Kumar, Mission Raniganj boasts an ensemble cast including Parineeti Chopra, Rajesh Sharma, Ravi Kishan, Gaurav Prateek, Pawan Malhotra, Anant Mahadevan, and more. This compelling film draws its inspiration from a harrowing real-life event in a West Bengal coal mine where 65 workers were heroically rescued from the clutches of a devastating flood. Akshay Kumar plays the role of late Shri Jaswant Singh Gill who spearheaded Bharat’s coal mine rescue mission.

Mission Raniganj made an impressive opening with a collection of Rs 2.8 crore on the first day. The film witnessed a 60 per cent growth on the second day, reaching Rs 4.50 crore, and earned a 4.85 crore net in India on its third day. The film clashed with Bhumi Pednekar’s Thank You For Coming and Rajveer Deol and Paloma Dhillon’s Dono.

On the work front, Akshay Kumar has an exciting lineup of projects in his kitty. He is set to grace the silver screen in Ahmed Khan’s highly-anticipated film, Welcome to the Jungle. The film features a star-studded cast that includes Disha Patani, Bobby Deol, Jacqueline Fernandez, and more. Fans can look forward to Akshay’s return to the much-loved Hera Pheri franchise, with the third installment directed by Farhad Samji. The film reunites him with Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty.
