“It is very difficult to play the role of an anchor in the shortest format and sometimes it feels very embarrassing. What my experience says and I know that whenever someone hires me, they ask me to play anchor role like I do in Pakistan,” Rizwan was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

“I always assess the situation, assess the opponent and do things like that (anchoring the innings) and sometimes it’s embarrassing because in T20 everybody knows we love sixes and They want me to score 60-70 runs in 35-45 balls.” But I have to win matches.”

“You can look at the scoreboard and see what the team demands from you. My cricket idol is AB de Villiers and I follow him very closely and his performance in Test cricket and T20 as well and hence I also demand from the team. I try to play accordingly.

He said, ‘Sometimes in T20 cricket you can go with a slow strike rate because sometimes in T20 you are in a situation where the opposition wants to take wickets. You can go slow when you lose a few wickets, but when the team needs to hit the long ball, you can go with the pace. For me, timing is important and thankfully I have been successful most of the time.”
