Launch of Vande Bharat Express: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav was seen explaining the techniques of Vande Bharat Express train to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at Guwahati Railway Station on Monday.
The Chief Minister of Assam tweeted, “I am mesmerized after knowing about the state-of-the-art technology used in Vande Bharat trains. My congratulations to the teaching skills of Shri @ashwiniVaishnav ji, explaining technological marvels so simply!”
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the first Vande Bharat Express of the Northeast, which will cover the journey from Guwahati to New Jalpaiguri.
Assam’s first Vande Bharat Express
This Vande Bharat Express is capable of covering the journey in 5 hours 30 minutes, while the current fastest train takes 6 hours 30 minutes to cover the same journey. According to the press release, PM Modi dedicated the newly electrified sections and also inaugurated the newly constructed DEMU/MEMU shed.
Vande Bharat Express will boost tourism in the region
“The state-of-the-art Vande Bharat Express will provide the people of the region with a means to travel with speed and comfort. It will also give a boost to tourism in the region. The train connecting Guwahati to New Jalpaiguri will help in saving about one hour of travel time. Travel time, when compared to the current fastest train connecting the two locations,” reads the press release.
PM Modi will dedicate more projects
According to the press release, the Prime Minister also inaugurated a newly constructed DEMU/MEMU shed at Lumding in Assam. This new facility will help in retaining the DEMU rakes operating in the region, leading to better operational viability.
