According to Consumer International, the theme for this year’s World Consumer Rights Day is ‘Empowering consumers through a clean energy transition’. Consumer International says, “Amidst the biggest cost of living crisis in a generation and as the energy world reacts rapidly to supply and climate issues, we have a key role to play in providing a fair transition for consumers.” “.

The idea of celebrating World Consumer Rights Day stems from a message by the former President of the United States of America, John F. Kennedy. On March 15, 1962, he gave a special message to the US Congress about consumer rights. He had said, “Consumers include all of us. They are the largest economic group, influencing and influencing almost every public and private economic decision. Yet they are the only significant group… whose views are often not heard.”
