Esha once compared Bharat to Dharmendra.

Esha Deol said that in a way, Bharat Takhtani is like her father, veteran actor Dharmendra.

Esha Deol and her husband, Bharat Takhtani, who have been married for 11 years, recently released a statement confirming their amicable separation. They tied the knot in 2012 and are parents to two daughters, Radhya, aged 6 and Miraya, aged 4. During a chat with Filmfare over a decade ago, Esha drew parallels between Bharat and her father Dharmendra.

She said that after meeting Bharat, she did not “feel like a lost soul anymore”. She said, “I realised that he’s someone who’ll be mine and remain loyal.” “There’s more purpose to life, something to look forward to. There’s a companion to hold my hand,” she added.

She described Bharat Takhtani as “outgoing yet traditional” and compared him to her father, veteran actor Dharmendra. “In a way, he’s like Papa, he knows how to keep his family together. If he can love and care for them, he won’t let me down either. Also, he’s comfortable with my celebrity status. He doesn’t view me as Esha Deol, he knows me as Esha, his friend,” she said.

Esha Deol is Dharmendra’s daughter from his second marriage with Hema Malini. She also has a sister named Ahana Deol. Before Bollywood’s Dream Girl, Dharmendra was married to Prakash Kaur with whom he has two sons – Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. The rumours of Esha and Bharat’s separation were making headlines for a long time now. It all started after the latter skipped his mother-in-law Hema Malini’s birthday bash last year. He was also not seen Esha’s birthday celebration.

They recently announced their separation in a joint statement. “We have mutually and amicably decided to part ways. Through this shift in our lives, the best interests and welfare of our two children is and will be of utmost importance to us. We’d appreciate our privacy is respected,” their statement issued to Delhi Times read.
