WhatsApp Working On New Feature ‘Channels’ For Broadcasting Information

New Delhi: Meta-owned WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature called “Channels”, a new one-to-many tool for broadcasting information on iOS. According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is planning to rename the Status tab “Updates” to include channels within this section.

Furthermore, the report pointed out that since it is an optional extension of private messaging instead of turning to a public social network, people can choose which channels they want to follow and no one can see who they follow. follow, whether or not they’ve added them as a contact or not.

The channel feature will also accept handles, allowing users to find a certain WhatsApp channel by typing their username into WhatsApp. The feature is aimed at increasing the channel’s reach, making it easier for users to receive updates of their choice, the report added.

Channels are currently under development and will be released in future updates of the app.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp has introduced a ‘Keep in Chat’ feature that will allow users to long-press a message in a disappearing message thread and save it.

WhatsApp calls this the “sender superpower”, and it will be the sender’s choice to allow others in the chat to keep certain messages for later.
