WhatsApp users in India, the company introduced these new features for you – Times of India

WhatsApp Introduced new features for the Indian market. The features are claimed to make WhatsApp safer for the users. The new features introduced by the Facebook-owned messaging platform include – flash call and message-level reporting. Both the features have been in the works for quite some time and were earlier spotted in a beta update by WABetaInfo. Here’s what these security features do and how they are useful to you.
flash call feature on whatsapp
As of now, whenever you try to log in to a WhatsApp account, you have to enter a six-digit One Time Password (OTP), which the platform sends to your registered mobile number. Without entering the correct OTP you cannot access your account. With Flash Call feature, you can skip this tedious process. The feature allows you to verify yourself through an automated call. As of now, this feature is only available on Android devices.
Message-level reporting feature on WhatsApp
The message-level reporting feature allows users to report a specific message from another user. You can also report a message sent by another user in the group. This feature is available for Android and iOS devices. To use it, tap and hold on the message you want to report and select ‘Report’ from the menu. You will have the option to report the message only or to report and block it.
Recently, the platform has also introduced the “Accept My Contacts” feature that allows users to control who can see their last seen, status, profile photo and details on WhatsApp. This feature can be accessed under Privacy Settings. The app already had options like Everyone, My Contacts and Nobody. With the new feature, users can select the contacts with whom they do not want to share information about the last seen, profile photo, status and details. Contacts not selected by the user will not be able to see any new changes and information.
