WhatsApp restricted the number of times a message can be forwarded to five times in India in 2018.
Instant messaging app WhatsApp keeps on bringing new features and updates for its users to make the platform more useful and secure at the same time. The company is now bringing a new restriction with message forwarding. Android and iOS users will not be able to forward messages to more than one group. The new change was spotted by WhatsApp tracker WABetaInfo on WhatsApp beta for both Android and iOS. The portal also shared screenshots of the feature showing a disclaimer that would appear when users try to forward a message to more than one group chat.
New feature spotted WhatsApp for beta Android Version 2.22.7.2 and WhatsApp Beta for iOS Version 22.7.0.76. The screenshot shared by WABetaInfo shows that when a message is already marked as forwarded, it is not possible to forward it to more than one group. If a user tries to forward a previously forwarded message to another group, they will receive a warning that says “Forwarded messages can only be sent to one group chat.” This comes as the latest ban on message forwarding on WhatsApp, something that has previously been linked to the spread of misinformation India And also abroad. The WABetaInfo report also states that the new single group forward limit was already rolled out for some Android beta testers, but has now been extended to more beta testers and the WhatsApp beta for iOS as well. .

In 2018, WhatsApp restricted the number of people a user can send a message to, up to five. It was launched with India and was launched globally in January 2019.
This comes days after WhatsApp rolled out the new voice message feature on Android. The six new features added to Voice Notes on WhatsApp are draft preview, ability to pause/resume message, out of chat playback which is another term for global voice note player. WhatsApp is also bringing resume playback for voice notes and waveform visualization of voice notes.
