Facebook-owned instant messaging app WhatsApp Has started rolling out end-to-end encryption for chat backup. One feature that has been in the news for some time is it allows users to encrypt their chat backups which they store on Google Drive or iCloud. Last month, WhatsApp announced that it would start rolling out end-to-end encrypted cloud backup for Android And iOS the user. The opt-in feature will help users protect their backups from being accessed by third parties, including Google And Apple that provide cloud storage.

This feature will be rolled out gradually to both Android and iOS users on our global scale. This means that if the update is not showing up on your app yet, it means you haven’t received it yet and will be rolling out to your device in no time. Once started, WhatsApp users will need to manually enable end-to-end encryption for cloud backup. To do this, users have to go to Adjustment > chat > chat backup > End-to-end encrypted backup, and then follow the on-screen instructions. Once done, users will have to tap What happened And wait for WhatsApp to generate your end-to-end backup. It is important to note that you will not be able to restore your entire encrypted backup if you forget your password or key.
