The country may soon get its first gay judge. The Supreme Court collegium has recommended the appointment of senior advocate Saurabh Kripal (49) as a judge of the Delhi High Court. He belongs to the LGBTQIA+ community. People in this community are not identified by their dress or appearance, but by their sexual preferences. That is, to which gender they are attracted for a sexual relationship and consider themselves apart from the body as masculine (male) or feminine (feminine). G – ‘Gay’: When a man is attracted to another man, then he is called ‘Gay’. The term ‘gay’ is sometimes used to refer to the entire gay community, including ‘lesbian’, ‘gay’, ‘bisexual’.

B – ‘Bisexual’: When a man or woman is attracted to both men and women and also makes sexual relations, then they are called ‘bisexual’. Both men and women can be ‘bisexual’. Actually a person’s physical desire decides whether he is L, G or B.

T- ‘Transgender’: The person whose body was different when he was born and he grew up feeling himself completely opposite. As at the time of birth, the child’s private parts belonged to men and his name was that of a boy, but after some time he found himself that he felt like a girl at heart. Some people also do gender change on this. Boys get the hormones of girls, which causes breasts to emerge. These people are ‘transgender’. Similarly, if a woman feels like a man, then she resorts to therapy to feel like a man. She is also ‘transgender’.

Q – ‘Queer’: Such a person who has neither been able to decide his identity nor physical desire. Meaning these people consider themselves neither man, woman or ‘transgender’ nor ‘lesbian’, ‘gay’ or ‘bisexual’, calling them ‘queer’. The ‘Q’ of ‘queer’ is also considered ‘questioning’ i.e. those who still have many questions about their identity and physical desire.

I- ‘Intersex’: According to the Intersex Society of North America, the term defines people who are not born with the normal reproductive organs of either a female or a male. People who appear male or female from the outside, but their reproductive organs do not match that gender.

A- ‘Asexual’ or ‘Alli’: This letter can have two meanings. the first is asexual- This term is used for people who do not feel sexual attraction towards any gender. These people can come into a romantic relationship with someone, but they are not able to form sexual relations. This is not due to any mentality or fear, just they do not have sexual feelings.

the second word is alai– This term is used for people who speak up for their rights as companions or friends of LGBTQI people, even if they do not belong to the community themselves.

plus (+): Apart from this, a plus (+) sign has also been put in front of LGBTQIA. In this, many other groups are kept including pansexual, polyamorous, demisexual. This has been kept open to more groups, which are yet to be identified.
