Sachin Tendulkar heaps massive praise on SRH

Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar heaped huge praise on the Cummins & Co. for their all-round show in Delhi on Saturday.

The Surisers Hyderabad (SRH) have been the most ferocious sides in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Under the leadership of newly-appointed Pat Cummins, the Orange Army keeps on shattering records with every game they play in the group stage. Their latest success came on Saturday night when they defeated Delhi Capital in their own backyard by a huge margin of 67 runs after registering the third 250-plus total in the ongoing tournament.

Openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma launched an assault against the DC bowlers, adding 131 runs for the first wicket in the Powerplay itself. The Aussies batter top-scored with a 32-ball 89, which included 6 sixes and 11 boundaries. Down the order, all-rounder Shabaz Nadeem scored a half-century as the SRH posted 266/7 in 20 overs.

In reply, DC tried matching SRH’s intensity with some early fireworks. Jake Fraser-McGurk scored a 15-ball half-century to provide his team a blistering start in the mammoth chase while Abhishek Porel contributed with a 22-ball 42. However, the hosts ran out of gas with their dismissals as were bundled out for 199 with 5 balls to spare.

Sunrisers’ exploits continue to surprise the experts of the game. Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar heaped huge praise on the Cummins & Co. for their all-round show in Delhi on Saturday.

“What is it with @SunRisers that they’ve gotten past 260 thrice in this season alone! Today was a game where they completely outclassed @DelhiCapitals. They, of course, batted well thanks to a mind-boggling start by @travishead34 & @IamAbhiSharma4 and a wonderful finish by Shahbaz. And in the 2nd half of the game, they bowled much better than DC, with their variations proving to be very effective. Well played, SRH,” Tendulkar wrote on X.

DC skipper Rishabh Pant conceded his side was literally doing catchup all through the match after Sunrisers Hyderabad made a huge ‘power play’ statement smashing 125 runs to create an IPL record.

“I think power play was the difference. We were just catching up throughout the match. That was the massive difference. Hopefully, we will come back with more thought process and clear mindset,” said Pant.

“The only thought process behind that (deciding to bowl first) was we thought there would be some dew but it didn’t come. I thought if we could restrict them to 220-230, we would be in with a chance,” he added.
