People often get confused about the difference between acidity and bloating.

Dr. Srihari Anikhindi of Delhi’s Sri Ganga Ram Hospital explained to News18 in detail and told that usually due to gas, the stomach becomes heavy and starts stretching, it is called the medical term bloating. He also told that if excessive gas is formed and not released then it can be harmful.

Dr. Anikhindi told that about 100 to 200 milliliters of gas is always present in the stomach of every human being. But for some people this gas becomes a problem and for some it is easy.

“Whatever we eat in a day also contains bacteria and a large number of bacteria are present in our gut. Apart from this, if there is an infection in the stomach, blockage in the intestine or bladder, more gas will be produced. Even after taking some medicines, the chances of gas formation are high.

Dr. Anikhindi also told that if someone is under a lot of stress and depression, then the problem of bloating will be more. He also said that people get gas from any particular food. “About 70 percent of people India lactose intolerance is a problem,” he shared.

Dr. Anikhindi claimed, “If you are having gas problem since many days and your stomach is getting upset, it is getting more then contact the doctor, because first of all it is necessary to find out what is causing excess gas. What is the reason. In the test we will see whether the cause of the gas is an internal disease of the intestines or it is due to functional factors i.e. lifestyle and diet.

He also shared that most of the time bloating is caused due to wrong lifestyle and diet. To avoid this, he advises being mindful of what you eat and that people who are lactose intolerant should avoid consuming dairy products like cheese, butter and cottage cheese.
