However, there have been many controversies as well. It has received backlash from some groups for the methods used to deal with the floods in the state. Now the film’s director Jude Antony Joseph has written a note on Facebook responding to the allegations against the film.

The director wrote, “We begin Malayali 2018 – everyone is a hero film by thanking Chief Minister Com Pinarayi Vijayan Sir, Leader of the Opposition VD Satheesan Sir and Yusuf Ali Sir. The government, the opposition, the central government and we the people together This film is a small reminder of the great times it did. Isn’t this victory ours? The film has been criticized by some groups for showing the helplessness of the state government. Recently, PS Sreekala, director of Kerala Knowledge Economy Mission, condemned the film and said that the film was based on distorted facts and does not show the real picture of what happened. As per reports, it was found that he had written in his Facebook post that the director had not done proper research on the floods that ravaged the state. He wrote that the Chief Minister of Kerala has been shown helpless in the film, but in reality it was not so. He also pointed out other errors, such as the collapse of school buildings, which he believed did not happen and were false.

The film, released on 5 May, stars Kunchacko Boban, Tovino Thomas, Asif Ali, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Aparna Balamurali, Kalaiyarasan, Narayan, Lal etc. in pivotal roles. The film is doing well and has collected Rs 27.80 crore at the box office.
