West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell vows to return to BBL

After playing his last match for the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League on Monday, West Indies batsman Andre Russell vowed to make a comeback next year if possible.

The destructive batsman said that playing in the Big Bash League is a priority for him as he is determined to put up a good show so that the coaches have something to think about on his return next year.

The 33-year-old arrived in the BBL for a five-match stint with the Jamaican Melbourne Stars. In his last match – against the Hobart Hurricanes – scored 83 runs at a strike rate of 162, scoring an unbeaten 42 off just 21 balls in a player-of-the-match performance to take the Stars home on Sydney Thunder in the second match of the tournament.

Russell said, “I’m really looking forward to cashing in on some good performances for the stars. It’s a great group of people and they made me feel at home and I really want to do something special before I get out of this half.” Am.” of the tournament.”

When asked if he was interested in coming back next summer, Russell said “Absolutely”.

“I always enjoy playing in these conditions, the ball hits the bat well. You bowl fast, you get results, so at the end of the day playing in the Big Bash is always a priority. Sometimes West Indies tours and all these things fall at the wrong time,” he said.

“But I’m happy to be back if these people want me back, so I try and do something special… so they have something to think about.”

Russell said he was looking forward to some rest at home before the upcoming series against Ireland and England.

“I wish I could last longer, but this is what happens in the end,” he said. “Hopefully I can give my body a little rest – from CPL (Caribbean Premier League), straight to IPL (Indian Premier League), then T20 World Cup and now I’m here, so it’s a long road The journey has come.”
