BARASAT: A school headmistress was on Wednesday arrested for allegedly selling out “Sabooj Sathi” cycles at Swarupnagar in North 24 Parganas. A van-rickshaw puller, Najrul Mondalwas also arrested for buying those cycles.
According to locals, Rinku Dasthe headmistress of Charghat Girls high school at Swarupnagar, was selling at least 50 cycles for over a couple of months that were kept concealed.
Das, though, said: “Some damaged cycles were lying in a room adjacent to girls’ toilets that turned into a garbage godown. With consent of school management, they were being removed for distribution among needy students.”
Both Das and Mondal were produced in a Basirhat court.
