Second arrest in Hanskhali rape case

A second suspect was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday in connection with the alleged rape of a minor girl in Hanskhali area of ​​West Bengal’s Nadia district. A senior police officer gave this information.

The officer said he is a friend of the prime suspect in the case. Two others have also been taken into custody for questioning, he said.

On April 4, a minor girl was allegedly raped at a birthday party at the house of the main accused. According to her parents, who lodged a police complaint on April 9, she died later that night.

The main accused, the TMC leader’s son, was arrested soon after the complaint was filed.

“We have arrested one more person this morning. He was present at the birthday party. His involvement is being probed. We have found discrepancies in his versions of the incident. Two others who attended the party have been questioned. has been taken into custody,” the police officer said.

Meanwhile, the Calcutta High Court expressed displeasure over the repeated incidents of rape in the state. It has ordered joint investigation of 4 rape cases of Matia, Englishbazar, Deganga and Bansdroni. Special CP Damayanti Sen of Kolkata Police has been given the command of the investigation and the next hearing is to be held on April 20.
