West Bengal: Pilgrims at Gangasagar Mela amid random testing, strict protocols

New Delhi: Thousands of visitors thronged the Ganga Sagar Mela after the fair began amid strict screening of pilgrims for double vaccination and RT-PCR tests as well as random testing.

The bench also ordered that all the pilgrims should be fully vaccinated and test negative for COVID-19 in the RT-PCR test conducted 72 hours before reaching the venue.

In addition to the above arrangements, a water ambulance and an air ambulance are also available on the ground for COVID infected people. He said that random testing is being done to know whether people are infected or not.

All the activities of the Mela are being monitored from the Mega Control Room. CCTV cameras and drones are being used to keep a watch on every movement of the fair. In addition, transport boats, ships and all arrangements have been made as the visitors will have to cross the sea for the fair.

The District Magistrate said that a large number of police, navy, disaster management teams, civil defense forces have been deployed to keep an eye on the crowd management, as well as arrangements have been made to transport people through buses, ships and GPRS facilities. has been added. barge
