Of the five teachers who consumed poison, the condition of two is critical. The state education minister, however, took to social media to call these teachers from the “BJP cadre”. He wrote, “During the Left rule, these SSK and MSK teachers used to receive meager salaries. They were neither permanent nor had any retirement benefits or other working time benefits. The Mamata Banerjee government gave their work pay structure. His salary was increased to Rs 10,340 and Rs 13,390 respectively with a provision of 3 per cent increment every year.
“All those healthy companions are under the health benefit. Those who are retiring are getting retirement benefits. They have also been given the provision of provident fund. They also get pregnancy leaves. They are provided casual leave of 18 days,” he said.

BJP on the other hand has raised the issue, a team has visited the hospital in the morning and Subhendu has given a statement on Twitter, “Five teachers of SSK and MSK protested their unfair transfer away from home today at Bikas Bhawan I consumed poison. . They receive a nominal amount per month and it will not even be possible for them to bear the housing expenses. This is a punishment for armed posting by the vengeful WB government.”
These teachers work in Shishu Shiksha Kendra and Madhyamik Shiksha Kendra (school located in Panchayat). These teachers have been hired on temporary basis and they are demanding permanent posts and increase in salary.
