India captain Virat Kohli led the congratulatory messages for the other Indian team on Twitter after Deepak Chahar led them to a stunning victory against Sri Lanka in the second ODI in Colombo. Chahar remained unbeaten on 69 as India scored the winning run with three wickets to spare.

Deepak Chahar’s unbeaten 69 helped India win the second ODI against Sri Lanka from the jaws of defeat, thus taking an unassailable 2–0 lead in the three-match series. Chasing 276, India posted 193 for 7 when Chahar combined with Bhuvneshwar to make a rearguard effort to help India win the final over. Bhuvneshwar was unbeaten on 19 off 28, providing enough support for Chahar. The two also took five wickets between them with the ball and shared an unbroken 84-run partnership.

India’s chase started at the same pace as the first ODI, but Sri Lanka came up with a much better plan this time. Learning from the first game, SL quickly got the spin and it worked wonders as Hasranga’s googly hit the stumps of Prithvi Shaw, the opener scoring 13 off 11. Ishaan Kishan, who scored a quick half-century on Sunday, looked positive but Kasun Rajita cut against it. Shikhar Dhawan and Manish Pandey stabilized the ship for a while but the captain fell to Hasranga, was jolted across the line and missed being lbw.

India were 65 for 3, but that didn’t stop them from batting fast; Suryakumar Yadav and Manish Pandey shared a 50-run partnership. However, an unfortunate run out ended Pandey’s scintillating 37 (31) knock. Suryakumar’s straight drive hit the bowler’s finger before the stumps, and Pandey was caught too far back. Hardik Pandya fell in the same over, dismissing Dasun Shanaka at mid-wicket for 0.
