Cold wave continues to wreak havoc in parts of North India Delhi airport has issued another fog warning to its air passengers. In an advisory to passengers on Saturday, airport authorities said several procedures have been put in place at the airport to deal with the threat of low visibility at the airport.

In a tweet, the airport said, “Low visibility procedures are underway at Delhi airport. All flights are normal at the moment. Passengers are requested to contact the concerned airline for updated flight information.”

On Friday, Delhi was reportedly colder than hill stations like Dalhousie, Dehradun and Nainital, with the minimum temperature in southwest Delhi’s Ayanagar dropping to 1.8 degrees Celsius.

Relief likely in some parts

Meanwhile, Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan also continued to grapple with severe cold. Though there is some respite in Kashmir as rain is expected in the valley from today, there has been slight improvement in the minimum temperature.

According to a senior official of the India Meteorological Department, there will be some respite from the cold weather under the influence of a fresh western disturbance, which is likely to affect northwest India from Friday.

The minimum and maximum temperatures are likely to rise by two to four degrees Celsius over most parts of the state in the next 48 hours due to the partial effect of a weak western disturbance, a Met official said.

There are strong chances of getting relief from the ongoing severe cold wave, dense fog and cold day conditions from Saturday.
