Weather Update: Rain will continue in Delhi-NCR, weather likely to improve from Monday

New Delhi: Delhi-NCR has been receiving light to heavy rains for the last two days and the situation is likely to improve in the coming days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the weather is expected to clear from Monday after light rain on Sunday morning.

According to the Meteorological Department, the rain is due to a Western Disturbance “with a trough in the upper troposphere with lower and middle troposphere levels over North Pakistan and neighbourhoods,” which has led to the formation of a cyclonic circulation.

Due to the same, light rain or snowfall is likely over areas of Jammu and Kashmir and isolated rain or snow over areas of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Sunday.

While there is no major drop in temperature in the adjoining areas of Delhi-NCR, there is a possibility of dense fog in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan on January 9 and 10.

The rain is likely to continue on Sunday before the situation improves. The IMD took to Twitter to warn of possible rain in North Delhi on Sunday.

“Light intensity rain/ drizzle in and around isolated places over North Delhi (Narela, Alipore), West-Delhi, North-West Delhi, Yamunanagar, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Panipat, Gohana, Ganaur, Sonepat There will be moderate rain. Rohtak, Panipat,” the tweet said.
