Weather Update: Heavy Rains To Lash Karnataka, Kerala; No Heatwave Likely For Next 5 Days

New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday predicted heavy rain over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands for the next 5 days. Under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over the island from May 8 to May 13.

Very heavy rain in Karnataka, Kerala

According to IMD, Kerala, light to moderate rain is likely over Kerala, Mahe and Karnataka during the next 5 days, while Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal will receive rain on May 7 and 8. Heavy rain will occur at isolated places over Kerala and Karnataka. Mahe during next 5 days and South Interior Karnataka on 8th May.

Isolated to fairly widespread rainfall/snow accompanied by thunderstorm, lightning and gusty wind is very likely over the western Himalayan region during next two days. “Hailstorm very likely over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on May 7,” the IMD said.

No heatwave for next 5 days


IMD has said that there will be an increase of 3 to 5 degree Celsius in maximum temperature over most parts of the country, however, there is no possibility of any heat wave conditions in the coming 5 days.
