‘We Had Target To…’, Shafali Verma Says THIS After India’s Thrilling Win In Low Scoring Match Against Bangladesh

After delivering a match-winning spell of three wickets in the last over against Bangladesh in the second T20I, Shafali Verma said that the Indian team had planned to bowl Bangladesh out within 60 runs. Shafali’s brilliant last-over spell helped India win the second T20I against Bangladesh by 8 runs at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on Tuesday. India pulled off a thrilling win defending their lowest total against Bangladesh as Shafali took three wickets and conceded just one run in the final over. Shafali and Deepti Sharma starred with the ball for India, taking three wickets respectively.

Speaking to the media after the match, Shafali Verma said, “The bowlers did really well, we didn’t score too many runs but as a bowling unit we had to do well and we did that, that’s a good thing.” Bangladesh has improved a lot. We are doing what we can but some things are not in our control. We did well and we are trying to do better every day.”

Shafali revealed that they had set a target of bowling out Bangladesh within 60 runs and they went into the match with that intention.

“We had a target of getting them out for 60. We believed we could do it. I was backing myself and Harmanpreet was backing me.” Shafali added.

Chasing a small target of 96 runs, Bangladesh skipper Nigar Sultana took the responsibility of taking the innings forward after Bangladesh lost their early wickets. However, after her dismissal, Bangladesh’s batting succumbed to Shafali’s aggressive bowling and collapsed for 87 runs.

Nigar scored 38 out of 55 runs. She was the only batsman who could touch double digits.

Shefali took three wickets for 15 runs. Deepti Sharma also joined the party, taking three wickets and conceding 12 runs. Minnu Mani dismissed two batsmen for just nine runs and Bereddi Anusha also got a wicket in the match. Electing to bat first, India’s batting struggled against the Bangladesh bowlers and could only manage 95/8. Sultana Khatoon was the best bowler for Bangladesh. He took three wickets for 21 runs. Fahima Khatoon took two wickets. Marufa Akhtar, Nahida Akhtar and Rabeya Khatoon took one wicket each.
