WB Result 2021: Academics claim non-uniformity in marking by schools

Several school teacher organizations in West Bengal have stated that the lack of uniformity in the marking by schools in the class 9 examination led to the majority of the students scoring high marks in the secondary (class 10) examination. In this year’s secondary examination, more than 90 per cent students secured first division marks and the pass percentage was a record hundred per cent.

The secondary examination could not be conducted this year due to the pandemic situation and the evaluation was based on the candidate’s performance in the 2019 class examination in class 9 and internal assessment on the basis of 50:50 for each subject in class 10. Teachers’ unions also expressed concern over the fact that so many students are scoring high marks and the pass percentage is one hundred per cent, more pass than class 11 seats.
