Water supply to be affected in some parts of Delhi tomorrow – View list of areas

New Delhi: Delhi Jal Board said that water supply will be affected in some parts of Delhi on Friday (July 8, 2022) due to ammonia pollution in Yamuna river. The utility said that due to pollution from Haryana, the amount of ammonia in the river has increased to two particulates per million (ppm). The water level in Wazirabad pond is also low – 670 feet as against the normal 674.5 feet.

Operations have been affected in Wazirabad, Chandrawal and Okhla WTPs. Water supply will remain affected till the situation improves.

Low pressure water will be available in North Delhi, West Delhi, North Delhi, Central Delhi, parts of South Delhi and New Delhi Municipal Council areas including Delhi Cantonment.

The treatment capacity of Chandrawal, Wazirabad and Okhla WTPs is 90 MGD, 135 MGD and 20 MGD respectively.

According to the Bureau of Indian Standards, the permissible maximum limit of ammonia in drinking water is 0.5 ppm. At present, the Delhi Jal Board can treat up to 0.9 ppm.
