As China’s central Henan province received its heaviest rain in 1,000 years, officials there said – Zhengzhou received 624 mm of rain on Tuesday, a third of it between 16:00 and 17:00 alone. The region saw widespread flooding caused by the deaths of more than two dozen people and the evacuation of thousands of people in many cities and villages.
