Watch: Yogi Adityanath Performs Rudrabhishek At Gorakhnath Temple As Shrawan Begins

Gorakhpur: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath performed Rudrabhishek at the Grokhnath temple in Gorakhpur on Tuesday, the first day of the month of Shravan. The CM also prayed for the happiness and prosperity of the people of the state. CM Yogi offered Bilva Patra, lotus flower etc. to Lord Shiva in the Shakti Peeth located on the first floor of his residence at Gorakhnath Temple and performed Rudrabhishek with milk and juice of seasonal fruits.

The chief priest of the Math, Acharya Ramanuja Tripathi and other Acharyas completed the ritual of Rudrabhishek by chanting Mahamantras.
After Rudrabhishek, CM Yogi performed Havan and Aarti amid Vedic chanting and wished for a healthy, happy, prosperous and peaceful life of the people of the state.

In the Hindu calendar, ‘Saawan’, also known as ‘Shravan’, is the fifth month of the Hindu lunisolar calendar and one of the holiest months of the year. This year, the Shravan period extends to two months instead of the usual one month duration. Earlier, the almost two-month long Shravan period was celebrated around 19 years ago.

This year Sawan will start from 4th July till 31st August.
