Sheikh Shahjahan Viral Video: Sharing the seven-second clip on X, the BJP IT cell chief wrote, ‘Swag of Mamata Banerjee’s poster boy, rapist has disappeared’.
Bharatiya Janata Party leader Amit Malviya has shared a video of Sheikh Shahjahan, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) strongman of Sandeshkhali, purportedly weeping “like an inconsolable child”.
Sharing the seven-second clip on ‘X’, the BJP IT cell chief wrote, “Swag of Mamata Banerjee’s poster boy, rapist has disappeared”.

“This is the fate that awaits the likes of Saokat Mollah, Jehangir Khan and others, who have unleashed a reign of terror across Bengal. No one will come to save them when law catches up. Not Mamata Banerjee for sure. She couldn’t even save her ministers. The clock is ticking,” Malviya further warned.
Shahjahan, accused of sexual assault and land grab, was arrested in Minakhan, North 24 Parganas district, earlier this year, after he had evaded capture by both state and central agencies for over a month.
Amid the Lok Sabha election season, Shahjahan and the Sandeshkhali incident have give ammunition to Mamata Banerjee’s rivals.
Recently, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury attacked the TMC chief, saying that the Bengal CID will treat Shahjahan to mutton, pulao and biryani. He said Banerjee has sent him to jail to rest.
“The Trinamool has enslaved the CID. How can the CID question Shahjahan? Does a master answer the slave? Shahjahan is their master. If they question him they will lose their lives. Do they want to risk their jobs?” Chowdhury had asked.
On the other hand, the BJP has fielded Rekha Patra, one of the protesters against alleged sexual harassment of women and incidents of land-grabbing in Sandeshkhali, from Basirhat Lok Sabha constituency.
Earlier this month, before voting for general elections began, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Bengal and targeted Banerjee. He said the entire country saw how the Trinamool threw its weight to save the culprits of the Sandeshkhali incident.
“But BJP’s focus is empowering the women. The culprits of Sandeshkhali will spend their lives in jail,” PM Modi said, adding that only the BJP can stop the injustice meted out to the women of Bengal and hence the BJP must be strengthened in West Bengal.
“What happened to the women of Sandeshkhali was a result of TMC’s misrule. BJP has vowed that it will ensure the punishment of the Sandeshkhali culprits,” Modi further said.
