Umran Malik bowled the fastest delivery by an Indian pacer to dismiss the Sri Lankan skipper in the first T20I.

Team India Fast bowler Umran Malik bowled fast against Sri Lanka in the first T20 match against Sri Lanka. The young fast bowler bowled the fastest delivery by an Indian to dismiss Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka in the first match of the series which turned the momentum in the hosts’ favour.

It was the fourth ball of the 17th over when Umran fired through at 155 kmph, which proved too good for the Sri Lankan skipper, who was batting on 45. Yuzvendra Chahal took a brilliant catch.

After the wicket of Shanaka, Sri Lanka lost their way as Axar Patel managed to defend 13 runs in the final over as India won the match by 2 runs.

BCCI posted the video of Umran’s fiery delivery and wrote, “Express pace! The moment when @umran_malik_1 clocked 155 kmph – the fastest ball bowled by a #TeamIndia pacer. Can we have another #INDvSL today?” Ready for another fast bowling spell in T20Is.”

Umran put up an incredible show with the ball in IPL 2022 while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad which catapulted him into the limelight and he made his international debut on the tour of Ireland last year. The fast bowler from Jammu and Kashmir grabbed the headlines for hitting 145 kmph at regular intervals. He claimed 22 wickets in 14 matches and also won the Emerging Player of the Year award.

Malik made his ODI debut against New Zealand in Auckland in November last year, where he took 2/66 and then 1/31 in a washed out match in Christchurch on 30 November. With his blistering pace, Malik’s cricketing graph has gone up.

Meanwhile, the second T20 match between India and Sri Lanka will be played in Maharashtra on January 6. Cricket Association Stadium, Pune. India will be without Sanju Samson for the remaining two matches of the series after he was ruled out due to an injured knee. Jitesh Sharma has been included in the team in his place.
