Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli Scored his 29th Test century in his 500th international match in the ongoing game against the West Indies at Port of Spain, Trinidad. Kohli, who had not scored a Test century overseas for five years, finally ended his drought as he got a much-needed big score ahead of the ODI series and then the Asia Cup. Kohli’s innings helped India post 400 plus in the first innings batting first, however, his innings ended with an unfortunate run out.

Kohli defends Jomel Warrican’s delivery towards short square leg and proceeds to take the run. However, fast bowler Alzarri Joseph was quick to reach the ball and released the ball even faster and hit the stumps straight at the non-striker’s end. Replays showed that Kohli was out by a few inches as the West Indies got a momentous wicket.

Kohli was frustrated as he walked away mumbling something and shaking his head and before crossing the boundary, he slammed his bat on the ground. Kohli’s reaction was due to frustration with the way he got out and showed that he wanted to play a long innings. Check out the video here (from 2:29).

Kohli’s innings was followed by a fifties by the all-round spin duo Ravindra Jadeja And R Ashwin helped India post a mammoth total of 438 on the slow surface of the Queen’s Park Oval. On the other hand, West Indies, who were expected to collapse early, responded strongly with the bat and tired the Indian bowlers on a slow pitch.

Rain played a big role on the third day, the visitors could only manage 4 more wickets after only 67 overs were bowled due to rain on the second day. Due to inclement weather and the nature of the surface, it would be really difficult for India to get a win as West Indies would be keen to get some points by drawing the game.
