The England and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) all-rounder emulated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batsman Rinku Singh’s feat in IPL 2023 by hitting five sixes in England’s T20 Blast tournament for Surrey against Middlesex. Jacques hit Middlesex leg-spinner Luke Hollman for five consecutive sixes and narrowly missed out on emulating India’s Yuvraj Singh – who hit Stuart Broad for six sixes in an over in the 2007 T20 World Cup.
Jaques, who was bought by Virat Kohli’s RCB for Rs 3.2 crore, missed the IPL 2023 season due to injury. The Surrey opener scored 31 runs in the over and could only manage one run off the last ball. The Surrey and England all-rounder scored 95 off 46 balls including 7 sixes and put on 177 runs in less than 13 overs for the first wicket with Laurie Evans (85, 37 balls, 5×6, 9×4) as Surrey won the title. Scored a mammoth score of 252. 7 runs after batting first.

In IPL 2023, Rinku Singh hit Yash Thakur for five sixes in the final over of the match against Gujarat Titans to give KKR a surprise win over Hardik Pandya’s side. However, Jack’s pyrotechnics were not enough to secure the victory for Surrey.
Middlesex chased down the mammoth target with only 3 wickets and 4 balls to spare. Captain Stephen Eskinazi led the way with a 39-ball 73 with 1 six and 13 fours, while Max Holden remained unbeaten on 68 in 35 balls with 2 sixes and 9 fours.
The impressive win ended a run of 10 defeats for Middlesex in the South Group this season, while Surrey missed the chance to move above Somerset at the top of the table. It was also the second highest successful run chase in T20 history, six runs short of South Africa’s record win over the West Indies earlier this year, while the 506 runs broke the Vitality Blast record for the highest match total in the competition .
Middlesex captain Eskinazi told Sky Sports, “We must have been on a losing streak for the longest period of time, so to get a performance like that is absolutely magic.”
