Sofia Richie and her husband Elliot Grainge are basking in the joy of becoming parents for the first time. The couple who got married on April 22, 2023, would be welcoming a baby girl. Sofia, the daughter of legendary singer and record producer Lionel Richie unveiled the gender of her baby through a TikTok video on January 28. She announced her pregnancy and her little one’s gender formally during an interview on January 25. Sofia, who shared the gender reveal with the masses was bombarded with a flood of congratulatory messages. But it was her euphoric reaction upon learning the sex of her unborn child that grabbed the attention online.

The video opened with Sofia Richie and Elliot Grainge standing in their backyard. The pair were accompanied by their pet dog, a golden retriever. With Elliot holding a confetti popper in his hands, an excited Sofia asked her husband whether he was “Ready”. On the count of three, Elliot released the popper as a trail of pink smoke spread in the air along with pink-coloured confetti.

Happy beyond measure, Sofia Richie gave out a squeal, running around her lawn. The model’s scream in addition to the abrupt noise from the popper frightened the golden retriever. The animal got up from the ground and ran towards its owners. “Sorry to all my neighbors for the horrifying scream,” captioned Sofia jokingly. The heartwarming video concluded with Sofia and Elliot kissing each other and sharing a warm hug. “I’m so excited,” she said to her husband.

Reacting to the gender reveal, a social media user wrote, “I love that it wasn’t some huge production. She kept it just the two of them and then shared the video.” Another quipped, “She’s adorable!! Congratulations on the baby!!” Others went all hearts in the comments.

Earlier, during an interaction with Vogue, Sofia Richie talked about the now-viral TikTok video. “I love the YouTubes and the TikTok — even before I was talking about getting pregnant — of gender reveals, so we had our OB text my assistant Becca, and we bought two party poppers: one blue, one pink,” she said. The social media personality added that her assistant left the right coloured confetti inside the popper. Although Sofia claimed that she and her husband expected a boy, it was her “dream in life is to have a daughter” while Elliot was “really excited” to welcome a girl.
