WATCH: Keegan Pietersen takes a one-handed stunner at leg slip to dismiss Cheteshwar Pujara

Keegan Pietersen saw Cheteshwar Pujara’s back while fielding at leg slip on Thursday. Thanks to his effort, South Africa got off to a great start to the day’s play with Ajinkya Rahane in the next over with Pujara being dismissed.

It was the second delivery of the third day as India resumed their overnight total at 57/2. Marco Jensen kicks it down the leg and Pujara bounces it higher than he liked.

The Indian batsman went for a clip at fine leg but Pietersen swung the ball in the blink of an eye, pulling it out of thin air for a diving catch in his right hand. The catch left South Africa in wild celebration, while all Pujara could do was leave the field.

Pujara thus ended his South Africa tour with 124 runs in six innings at an average of 20.66. Failure with the likes of Hanuma Vihari, Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill has also left their India future in doubt.

Later, South Africa gave another top example of their fielding when Aiden Markram jumped high while fielding at second slip to send Virat Kohli back just after the second session.

Kohli had till then batted patiently with a 29-run knock of 142 runs, after which he lost his attention and chased a ball that was going away from him. It also concluded his excellent 94-run stand with Rishabh Pant for the fifth wicket to help India recover from the morning’s two blows.
