Jos Buttler and Rassie van der Dussen were involved in a war of words and their verbal exchange has gone viral

England captain Jos Buttler and South Africa star batsman Rassie van der Dussen were involved in a heated exchange during the second ODI between England and South Africa in Bloemfontein on Sunday (January 29).

Having won the previous ODI, the Proteas were keen to seal the series as they hosted the Three Lions, however things got heated between Buttler and Rasi.

The verbal spat between the two was captured on the stump mic and a video of the incident went viral on social media. Usually, the England captain is not one to lose his mind, and remains calm, but he was clearly frustrated after Rasi stopped him from taking the catch.

The England captain passed it back to the South African batsman and he was heard telling the latter ‘what’s your problem Rasi.’

While the two have not been reprimanded so far, the match referee will certainly look into the matter and if found guilty, the pair could be fined.

Earlier, the Proteas star had scored a century in the last ODI to help the home side take a 1-0 lead, and Temba Bavuma’s side sealed the series with another clinical win.

The skipper himself scored a century while David Miller continued his fine form to score another half-century in back-to-back matches.

Together, they helped South Africa chase down the required total of 343 runs. The hosts won the toss and elected to bowl first, with England captain Butler scoring an unbeaten 94 while Harry Brook also added 80.

Moeen Ali also scored a half-century, helping the visitors post a total of 342/7 on the board in their respective 50 overs.

In reply, the Proteas chased it down with five balls to spare as Bavuma won the player of the match award for his match-winning knock of 109 off 102 balls.

The final match of the ODI series will be played at the Diamond Oval in Kimberley on February 1 as the home team will eye a clean sweep of the series while England will look to salvage some pride.
