WATCH: Eternal Trailer Explains Why Angelina Jolie and Company Didn’t Stop Thanos

A new trailer for filmmaker Chloe Zhao’s much-anticipated film “Eternal” dropped on social media on Thursday, giving yet another glimpse of the superhero group. Directed by Zhao, the film is about the titular group that has been living on Earth for the past 7,000. years.

Created by cosmic beings called the celestials, Eternal is sent to Earth to protect the planet from their evil counterparts. The film stars Gemma Chan as Cersei, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Angelina Jolie as Thea, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Brian Tyree Henry as Fastos, Featuring a star and diverse cast as meticulous as Lauren Ridloff. Lia McHugh as Sprite and Barry Keoghan as Druig.

The new trailer begins with Hayek’s Ajak explaining the events in “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame”. She says that the events unfolding in “Endgame” have “emerged” a new one, referring to the ladies.

For fans, the trailer provides an explanation of one of their most compelling questions after watching the teaser trailer released in May – why didn’t the Eternals stop Thanos from wiping out half humanity in “Infinity War”? In one scene, Chan’s Cersei is seen explaining the origins of Eternal to her current boyfriend, Dane Whitman, played by Madden’s “Game of Thrones” co-star Kit Harington. “Why didn’t you guys help fight Thanos? Or a war or all the other terrible things through history?” Whitman shows off some of the worst human tragedies in the form of a trailer, including the dropping of the atomic bomb in Japan.

To this, she replies, “we were instructed not to interfere in any human conflict unless the ladies were involved.” The trailers then show a celestial, implying that the orders came from the group’s creators. Unlike the first teaser, the new trailer is action-packed and shows Madden’s Icaris battling a goddess, casting rays of cosmic energy into the air with her eyes.

In the next frame, Nanjiani’s Kingo, who was earlier seen in a Bollywood dance sequence number in the trailer, fires cosmic energy projectiles at a creature with his hands. The action-packed trailer also gives a glimpse of Crow, the leader of the Ladies.

Zhao, who recently won the Best Director Oscar for his film “Nomadland”, co-wrote the film’s screenplay with Patrick Burley, Ryan Firpo and Matthew K. Firpo. Produced by Marvel Studios, “Eternal” will be released in November this year.

A new movie poster of Eternal has also surfaced.
