Aligarh: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is once again at the center of a controversy after a video went viral on social media, showing students dressed in National Cadet Corps (NCC) uniforms raising religious slogans during Republic Day celebrations outside the university campus. has gone. The viral video purportedly shows a group of AMU students dressed in NCC uniform raising slogans of ‘Allah-hu-Akhbar’ (God is Great) after hoisting the tricolor on campus outside Strachey Hall.

After the video went viral, the Aligarh district administration ordered the police to investigate the matter and urged the AMU management to take action against the sloganeering students. Aligarh SP City Kuldeep Singh Gunawat said, “The university has been directed to take cognizance of the incident.”


AMU Proctor Wasim Ali told reporters that a boy was seen raising the slogan, the video of which went viral on social media. According to the proctor, the student started shouting slogans at the university gate. An inquiry has been ordered into the incident. He said that once the student is identified, necessary action will be taken against him.

Wasim Ali said, “All national festivals are celebrated with great pomp and enthusiasm in the university.”
