The anger of farmers organizations has erupted on Punjab CM Charanjit Channi. Farmer Ekta Morcha, upset with the delay in sugarcane rate, warned that the issue of sugarcane rate should be resolved soon. If this does not happen, then we will camp in Chandigarh like Delhi border. This warning of the Kisan Front has also raised questions on the claims of the Punjab government to be farmer friendly.

The important thing is that CM Charanjit Channi himself had a meeting with the farmers’ organizations of Punjab. Despite this, the farmers are angry because the issue is not resolved. Farmer leaders Balwinder Singh Raju, Manjit Singh Rai, Jangveer Chauhan, Mukesh Chandra, Kuldeep Singh Bajidpur and Sukhpal Singh said that if payment is not made within 14 days as per the law of Sugarfed, we will start a struggle.

The price of sugarcane was increased by the Captain as CM, after which the farmers made them sweet.

CM had given assurance of 2 days, even after 14 days nothing happened
Kisan Ekta Morcha said that the Chief Minister of Punjab had assured us that by calling sugarcane mills, we would solve the rate issue in a day or two. Today 12 days have passed but no response has come. CM Channi don’t force us to convert Chandigarh into Delhi. The farmers have made it very clear that we will not charge the rate by adding Rs 325 and Rs 35. The sugarcane mill should give us Rs 360 per quintal in 14 days or else the government. This is our stern warning or else there will be such opposition from Majha and Doaba that the government will not be able to handle.

Decision at the time of Captain, notification not done
To increase the rate of sugarcane, farmers’ organizations blocked the Delhi-Panipat highway in Jalandhar. Captain Amarinder Singh was the CM then. In the meeting with him, the rate of sugarcane was increased from Rs 310 per quintal to Rs 360. However, before the notification could happen, Captain Amarinder Singh was overthrown. Then Charanjit Channi became the CM but the issue still hangs.
