Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts Bank Clerk exam for recruitment in Public Sector Banks, Cooperative Banks, Private Banks and Regional Rural Banks apart from State Bank of India.

Bank clerks play a vital role in providing excellent customer service, as they interact directly with customers and perform various banking activities including data entry. There are many recruitment exams conducted for the individuals who want to work as Clerk.

IBPS Clerk exam is specifically conducted to recruit bank clerks in Public Sector Banks, Cooperative Banks, Private Banks and Regional Rural Banks. The minimum age limit for general category candidates to appear in the bank clerk exam is 20 years while the maximum age limit is 28 years.

To secure a position in the clerical cadre of various public sector banks, candidates must successfully qualify the two-stage examination. In this, both the preliminary examination and the main examination have to be passed. Thereafter, a merit list is prepared based on the performance of the candidates, and those in the merit list are selected for the post of clerk in a bank.

It is important to note that there is no interview involved in the Bank Clerk recruitment process. However, candidates willing to apply for Clerk post must have a minimum educational qualification of graduation from a recognized State or Central University.

Unlike some other exams, there is no typing test for Bank Clerk exam. Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts Bank Clerk exam for recruitment in banks other than State Bank of India (SBI). SBI conducts its own separate exam for recruitment purposes. Additionally, there is a relaxation of five years for candidates belonging to SC/ST category and three years for those belonging to OBC category, when it comes to age criteria.
