‘Want to complain about flat pitches then quit cricket’: Ex-Pakistan all-rounder slams critics

The condition of the pitches has had a profound effect on Australia’s tour of Pakistan after 28 years. The first Test in Rawalpindi ended in a draw with only three innings in five days. Later, the ICC rated it ‘below average’ and fined the venue one demerit point.

The second Test in Karachi was far more interesting as the hosts showed fighting spirit in the final innings. However, the desired result could not be achieved. The 3-match series has reached a 0-0 draw and the two sides have now reached the final stage in the final Test in Lahore starting on Monday.

Meanwhile, former Pakistan all-rounder Saeed Ajmal has reacted strongly to the statements condemning the playing conditions. According to the Cricket Pakistan report, he said that any bowler who complains of flat pitches should stop playing Test match cricket.

“You need temperament to take wickets. You have to bowl 8-10 overs well to play mind games with the batsmen and then you will be able to execute your plan. If you want to complain about ‘flat pitches’ then you should quit cricket. If the spinner will look at the pitch and then bowl, what is the point of being a spinner? The spinners have to learn to perform in all conditions,” Ajmal said.

The former cricketer further said that the notion that Pakistan always has spin-friendly tracks is not true. Ajmal said that the spinners have to make efforts to get the ball rolling when they play in the UAE.

“The notion that Pakistan always have spin wickets was never there. Even when we were playing in UAE, we still had to spin the ball and it just didn’t magically happen,” Ajmal said.
