Noida: The two laborers who died in the accident wall collapse In Sector 2 May be asked to expedite work on Monday by private Construction, other employees on the site are suspicious.
A third laborer who was at the site when the wall collapsed and Raju, the contractor, is still missing. “It seems he was asked to complete the work in haste. The new wall was built. It came down when the two were working on an iron structure made for another wall,” said Arjun, another labourer.
The police on Tuesday identified the second laborer who died as Anil Mukhiya (26) of Darbhanga in Bihar. Anil, who was rescued from the rubble 10 minutes later, died on the way to the hospital. Another laborer, Atam Das (49), remained buried for about half an hour and died on the spot.
Sources said that three floors of the four-storey building have been given on rent to private companies. Owner Gurpreet Rekhi lives in America.
Rajesh, who looks after the maintenance of the building, said that the contractor was hired to construct an enclosure to avoid moisture in the walls. While the owner gave Rs 5 lakh as compensation to Anil’s family, Rs 4 lakh was given to the family members of Atam Das.
“No family filed a complaint. Hence, no FIR was registered,” said Munish Chauhan, SHO, Sector 20 police station.
