Chennai spinner Mahesh Tikshana bowled a short pitched delivery to Yashasvi Jaiswal, who failed to connect it. The ball hit the batsman’s pads straight, with Thekhna appealing for LBW. The on-field umpire was not quite convinced, shaking his head in denial. Dhoni directly challenged the decision and decided to give it a second check. The ball-tracking system made it all too clear that the ball had pitched outside leg stump. After the review went in vain, the crowd was seen scratching their heads as they thought it was another error-free calculation by Dhoni.

The incident became a trending topic in no time on social media along with “Dhoni Review System”. Despite the fiasco, fans couldn’t find a better name for DRS. He shared an extraordinary statistic which showed that 85 per cent of the decisions taken M S Dhoni have been correct so far.

Another fan tweeted, “People still believe in Dhoni’s review system.”

One fan could not believe that “Dhoni’s review system has failed.”
