Ludhiana: A thief struck at a house in Moti Nagar and escaped with gold, diamond jewelery and cash when the family was in VrindavanUttar Pradesh.
House owner Rajesh Kumar, 53, who runs a box factory in the area, said, “On February 11 around 7pm, I, along with my family, left for Vrindavan. We were to return on February 14 night. On February 13 around 3pm, I received a call from my neighbor Raghav Dhingra who said our house had been burgled.”
“Raghav said he saw a flowerpot kept outside the main door of our house broken. Smelling a rat, he peaked inside and saw the lobby door open and lights on. Raghav knew that we had gone to Vrindavan. Besides, the main door was still locked from outside. Raghav went to the terrace of our house from his house roof. On noticing our house ransacked, he informed us,” he added.
The family boarded a train and reached the city on Monday evening.
Rajesh said, “A part of terrace is covered with fiber sheet. The burglar broke the fiber sheet and used a rope to enter the house. He broke open the almirahs and stole gold and diamond jewellery and Rs 11,000. I have incurred a loss of about Rs 8 lakh.”
Moti Nagar police station investigating officer Kuldeep Singh said the burglar entered from the rooftop. The accused has been captured on a CCTV installed in a neighboring house. A case has been registered.” TNN
