Voting for the third phase is going on in Uttar Pradesh. Till 1 pm, 35.88% votes have been cast in 59 seats in 16 districts. Voters’ enthusiasm was high in the initial hours. Elders and Divyang also came to exercise their right to vote. Brides also appeared at the booth, who came to cast their votes before leaving. Mulayam Singh came to cast his vote on a wheel chair. Mulayam’s brother Abhay Ram, 78, came to cast his vote on a bike. Akhilesh and Dimple cast their vote with the entire family in Saifai.

Voting started late at some places due to malfunctioning of EVMs. In some places, people boycotted voting on the issue of development. In Mahoba, Lalitpur, Hathras and Tundla, people boycotted voting due to lack of development. Villagers stopped voting in Nagla Bihari of Hathras. Till 10 pm, only 4 voters had cast their vote. Not a single vote was cast in 5 villages of Lalitpur till 12 noon.

At the same time, due to gangster Vikas Dubey, there have been queues of voters since morning in the village of Bikru, which came into the limelight across the country. 1. Akhilesh VS SP Baghel in Karhal
These are the hottest seats of Uttar Pradesh elections. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav is in the electoral fray from here. To give a tough fight to Akhilesh, from here, BJP has appointed Agra MP and cabinet minister S.P. Singh Baghel has been fielded. From 1993 till now, only Yadav has been winning the elections, irrespective of the party. That being said, there is a fight between the Guru’s son and the disciple on this seat. Actually, SP Singh Baghel is Mulayam’s political disciple and Akhilesh’s son.

2. Shivpal vs Vinay Shakya in Jaswantnagar
Only Samajwadi Party has occupied this seat since last 5 assembly elections. Mulayam Singh Yadav also became MLA by winning this seat for the first time. This time again Akhilesh’s uncle and Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party chief Shivpal Yadav is in the fray. BJP has fielded youth leader Vinay Shakya from here. 32-year-old Vinay is a well-known face of Jaswantnagar area. His father Manoj Shakya is also a well-known social worker.

3. Asim Arun vs Anil Dore in Kannauj
Known as the city of perfume all over the world, Kannauj is the seat from where Akhilesh and Dimple Yadav started their political careers. Since the raid on the perfume trader’s house, this city has become a topic of constant discussion. In this seat, there will be a tough competition between the SP and the BJP. Here Anil Dore, a three-time MLA of SP, is in the fray for the fourth time. On the other hand, BJP has fielded Asim Arun, former police commissioner of Kanpur. In the last election, BJP candidate Banwari Lal was defeated by only 2454 votes.

4. Ramveer vs Guddu Chaudhary in Hathras
There is a tough fight between BJP and RLD. Ramveer Upadhyay, who left the BSP and joined the BJP on January 15, is in the fray from this seat. He is seen giving a tough fight to RLD’s Pradeep Chaudhary Guddu, who is backed by SP. Where on the one hand Ramveer has been a big leader of BSP and a former minister in the government. There are 3 assembly seats in Hathras district, MLAs have been made from all the seats. At the same time, Guddu is also a district panchayat member and a well-known name from here. He has the support of the largest Jat population of the seat.

5. Vishnoi vs Haji Irfan in Kanpur
It is considered a strong fort of SP. Even in the Modi wave, BJP could not capture this seat. BJP is waiting for victory in this seat since last 20 years. Haji Irfan Solanki, who has been continuously becoming MLA since 2012 on SP ticket, is again in the electoral fray. On the other hand, BJP has fielded state vice-president and MLC Salil Vishnoi. Salil Vishnoi is a 3-time MLA from Aryanagar and Generalganj.

In the third phase, 52 SP candidates have assets of more than Rs 1 crore, while 48 BJP candidates have such assets. According to the ADR report, the BSP has fielded 46 such candidates, while the Congress has fielded 29 and the Aam Aadmi Party has fielded 18 crorepatis. Out of 627 candidates who contested on February 20, 245 (39%) candidates are crorepatis.

The richest candidate in the fray is Yashpal Singh Yadav of SP, whose assets are more than Rs 70 crore. He is contesting from Babina seat of Jhansi. Congress candidate Ajay Kapoor, who is contesting from Kidwai Nagar seat in Kanpur, has assets worth 69 crores.
