Polling for the Punjab Assembly Election 2022 will be held tomorrow i.e. on Sunday. People will be able to cast their vote from 8 am to 6 pm. For this, 24,740 polling booths have been set up at 14,751 places in the state. There will be a tight guard of the police across the state. During this all shops and business establishments will remain closed in the state. Employees can also vote, so paid leave on behalf of the Chief Secretary and the Special Secretary of Labor Department has asked to keep all business establishments closed.

117 seats, 1304 candidates

Legislators are to be elected for 117 assembly seats in Punjab. For this, there will be a contest among 1,304 candidates. The tough competition is between Aam Aadmi Party, Congress, Akali Dal-BSP alliance, BJP, Punjab Lok Congress and SAD joint alliance, besides the United Samaj Morcha of 22 farmers’ organizations of Punjab.

For the first time in Punjab, more than one crore women will vote. The total number of voters in Punjab is 2 crore 14 lakh 99 thousand 804. Of these, there are 1 crore 12 lakh 98 thousand 81 male voters and 1 crore 2 lakh 996 female voters. Apart from this, 727 voters are transgender.
