VK Janjua, the new chief secretary of the Punjab government, has taken over the charge. He is the 41st Chief Secretary of Punjab. He has been made CS on Tuesday night itself. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government suddenly removed Anirudh Tiwari from this chair on Tuesday night. He was imposed CS by the previous CM Charanjit Channi-led Congress government. However, this decision was taken by ignoring 6 IAS officers senior to him. Tiwari has now been appointed as the chairman of Magsipa.

The new Chief Secretary of Punjab, VK Janjua is a 1989 batch IAS officer. At this time he was the Special Chief Secretary for Prisons and Elections. He has done B-Tech from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh. For a year, he worked in the Semi Conductor Complex (SCL), Mohali. Then also worked in Indian Government Enterprises designing computer chips for space agencies. He has also worked as an engineer in the Indian Telecom Service in the Central Government.

VK Janjua was first selected in the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) in 1988. After this, in 1989, he was selected for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). After coming 12th rank, he chose Punjab cadre. He continued to study even while on the job. He did LLB from Panjab University and MBA from IGNOU New Delhi. During this, he did his MA on International Development Policy from Duke University of America.

Prism software prepared in DC, digital record of property created
VK Janjua had prepared Prism software with the help of NIC while being the Deputy Commissioner of Fatehgarh Sahib. After which the process of digitizing property records started for the first time in Punjab. He also played a role in amending labor laws. While being the Finance Commissioner in the Revenue Department, 2.2 crore Girdavari entries were made digital in 15 days.
