US Consul General Mike Hankey aims to increase the number of Indian student visas this year

US Consul General in Mumbai Mike Hanke on Tuesday said the US aims to increase visa interview appointments for Indian students by 30 per cent this summer.

He said that the US Consulate processed about 1.25 lakh visa applications of students in India.

During his visit to Aurangabad, Mike Hanke held meetings with the members of the industries. He also visited Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University and interacted with the students.

“Last year, we sent over 1.25 lakh Indian students to the US, setting a new record for Indian students going to the US in a single year and establishing India as a leading student sending country. This year we are trying to increase that number (of students).

“We aim to increase the number of interview placements for students by 30 percent this summer. We look forward to welcoming more Indian students to the US.”

During his interaction with the students, the US envoy urged them to visit the websites and find courses suitable for them.

The US Consulate Mumbai tweeted that Hanke met conservationist and industrialist Mukund Bhogle to learn about the historical heritage of the Marathwada region, efforts towards preserving its heritage and areas of collaboration with the city’s business community.

He also interacted with an industrial delegation on aluminum supplies to support the global aerospace and defense supply chain.
